Red Light Cameras

Red light cameras are cameras located at red lights to catch drivers who are not obeying the red light signal. They are a response to a recent trend of red-light violations since the 1980s. In total, these violations have increased by 10%. They work by taking a photo of any vehicle that crosses the intersection during a red-light. The driver is sent this photo, along with a ticket, within two months of the violation.
Accidents at intersections with red light cameras were reduced by 30% in the City of Chicago [1].
