  • Christine Berthet

A founder of CHEKPEDS, the Clinton/Hell's Kitchen Coalition for Pedestrian Safety, Christine Berthet is a longtime livable streets activist in New York City. She is one leader of the Ninth Avenue Renaissance — a collaboration among CHECKPEDS, the Project for Public Spaces, and Transportation Alternatives — a movement that aspires to "reclaim 9th Avenue from the hellish Lincoln Tunnel traffic" and make the thoroughfare friendly for pedestrians from the neighborhood.

In 2006, Berthet was one of two CHECKPEDS members appointed by Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer to the Community Board for Manhattan's District 4 [1]. She is currently the co-chair of CB4's Transportation Planning Committee.
