Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals
Article Overview
The Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP) is the professional membership organization for the discipline of pedestrian and bicycle transportation. APBP members are employees of all levels of government, consulting firms, and non-profits who work in the engineering, planning, landscape architecture, police, safety, health, and promotion fields and specialize in improving conditions for bicycling and walking.
Prior to 1995, when APBP was founded, there weren't enough people working in this field to
make such an association possible. During the 1990s, however, thousands of transportation and recreation professionals, safety experts, police departments, academics, and students have worked on projects to improve conditions for bicycling and walking in communities throughout the United States. Today, APBP provides a forum for information sharing, professional training, and input from the profession to national standards.
APBP ListServe
APBP supports a listserve and searchable database of past listserve messages. The listserve serves as a highly repected discussion group through which members can get almost instant answers to questions, case examples, advice, and referrals.
