Overview:

The purpose of this site is to gin up some mutually useful two-way traffic between the various components of the admirable Livable Streets Initiative of New York City and a new international collaborative initiative out of Paris France covering much of the same territory but this time world-wide,  World Streets.  For a comprehensive introduction to the extensive content of World Streets please click to www.Worldstreets.org.  Both this group and The World Streets program are being developed under the general direction of Eric Britton, editor-in-chief of World Streets.

Goals:

While the Livable Streets programs are extensive and of a very high-quality, they are by and large focused on what is going on in the US in general and to very great extent the New York area were specifically.  By contrast the bailiwick of World Streets is sorely international and offers collaborative coverage of problems, projects, programs, and attitudes in by large number of countries, including in Europe and the developing world.  World Streets  builds on some 20 years of collaborative experience and products of an established program entitled The New Mobility Agenda, for which full information is available at www.newmobility.org.

Planning:

March 15, 2009.  We intend to approach this in steps, the first one being to create a blog site here which will serve as an efficient conduit of information materials between the two programs.  Because of time limitations and are limited technical expertise, this may take a couple of weeks.

The next step will be to invite one or two handfuls of colleagues here and within the World Streets family to follow, and if your time and interest allows to help us test and fine-tune the site.

Once this has been accomplished, we should know whether this is going to be useful and what to do with it next. Your suggestions and ideas are most welcome.
