Writing letters of support for a protected lane on W. 106th St!
The following is a simple sample letter. It's up to you how long or short you make your own letter. The most important thing is that you make it personal!

Dear Chairperson Rosenthal:
I am writing you today to express my support for new bicycle and traffic-calming measures on West 106th Street between Central Park West and Riverside Drive. As an area resident and neighborhood activist, I know that a W. 106th St. bikeway will provide a much-needed link between the city’s two most popular cycling destinations, Central Park and the Hudson River Bike Path. It will also clearly define the roadway, helping drivers as well as cyclists obey the law.
Most importantly, this plan is a great first step towards the comprehensive, physically protected network of bikeways that Upper Manhattan needs. While the current plan to install buffered lanes is a huge step in the right direction, I look forward to its swift upgrade to a physically protected lane. A protected facility will work to encourage cycling by providing a truly safe space for cyclists.
Sincerely,
