The truth of the matter is, word docs and wiki pages just don't get along--like oil and water, they just don't mix.

  • You can still draft whatever you're writing in a word doc (and this is a good idea if you forget or don't want to save requently), but the best thing to do is to paste your the text from your word doc into notepad or TextEdit before copying it into the wiki page.
  • These programs will allow you to strip your text of formatting before pasting it into the wiki page, which will make your life a lot easier.
  • This also means that you shouldn't spend time formatting your text in the word document as it will be lost. Wait to put in bullet points, bold, italics, headings, etc. in the wiki page itself
  • Additionally, we do have a "kill word formatting" button in our tool bar:

If you have formatting problems after pasting, clicking this button will help clean most of them up as well. You do not need to highlight the problematic text--it will apply to the whole page.
