NYC Transit will finally install a Select Bus Stop within the Co-op City commuinity as initially promised by the city. According to Karl Stricker, Special Operations (NYCT), the stop will be located on Bartow Ave. It currently begins and ends in Bay Plaza Shopping Center by JC Penney, a very long walk from any residential building. The project was held back because of opponents who argued that the SBS route should circle around Co-op City with stops in each section before leaving the community. This would defeat the purpose. The SBS is the suppose to be a rapid transit bus with limited stop, similar to a subway line. I value my time, so I'm looking forward to trying it on my daily commute into the Manhattan. What's your opinion?
