Getting Started
So many people at the kick off event for the Upper West Side Streets Renaissance Campaign mentioned that Amsterdam was the biggest traffic problem on the UWS, so focusing on fixing Amsterdam Ave. is a good place to start reforming the streets of the UWS.
About a month ago, I mentioned to Jon Orcut the idea of moving truck traffic off of Amsterdam and Columbus and onto the West Side Highway. I asked him what it would take to put trucks on to the West Side Highway, and Jon did not seem to think that it would be doable. He said he would look into it, but everyone is busy, and I never got a firm answer. I will ask him again and see what he has to say.
