The Bridge Commission is taking public comment on the bridge's new design. Currently, the Bridge is not accessible to pedestrians or bicyclists and the Commission has been reluctant to commit to including a pathway, despite it being the public's number one request and over 1400 people signed a petition<http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1102926491114&s=178&e=001cgwSCt3xt90iXftnrwiIQNPjMwJrGHroc6TuW7bLu1hO-MIBcefvpd-BgyMjoai-aFALMwwiHxSPXRDZMIq21sLhSRx0L-XjkXhUY8xJ5D6gEZIvNPHoAbTkbLA3jZ7VDe4BNYcRLIeD8tRhPIVh0w==> asking for one. The Commission is not convinced that the $18 million cost of the pathway justifies building it. This cost only adds 6% more to the total project cost of $300 million project.
