State global warming plan emerging
Since September, Pennsylvania’s Climate Change Advisory Committee has been meeting to develop a state-level global warming plan for Pennsylvania. PennEnvironment was appointed to serve on this committee by the state legislature last fall. A state-level global warming plan is critical, given that Pennsylvania creates more global warming pollution than any other state besides Texas and California.
The committee completed a first draft of the plan. As chair of the transportation and land use subcommittee, PennEnvironment ensured that policies expanding public transportation and curbing overdevelopment were included in the draft plan.
A statewide public comment period is scheduled for October. Look for future information from PennEnvironment about how to participate in this important public input process.

Key points that I would be looking for in a plan - goals reducing Vehicle Miles Traveled and increase bicycling and walking.
