The Madison Avenue Bridge spans the Harlem River, connecting Harlem with Mott Haven in the Bronx. It extends 138th Street across the two boroughs.

Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities

The bridge has shared bicycle and pedestrian facilities on its north and south sides. Whether to use the north side path or the south side path depends in part on one's Manhattan origin or destination. In Manhattan, the north side entrance is at 138th Street and Fifth Avenue and the south side's is at 135th Street and Madison Avenue.

The path is separated from the motor vehicle roadbed by a concrete and metal parapet.

North Side Path

The north side path's Bronx entrance is at the northwest corner of E. 138th Street and the Major Deegan Expressway service road.

The Manhattan entrance is at the northeast corner of 138th Street and Fifth Avenue.

South Side Path

The south side path's Manhattan entrance is at the northeast corner of E. 135th Street and Madison Avenue.

The Bronx entrance is at the southwest corner of E. 138th Street and the Major Deegan Expressway service road. Note that there is no curb cut.

Mass Transit

The Madison Avenue Bridge carries the Bx33 local bus and three express bus routes: The BxM3, BxM4A and BxM4B. The 138th Street Station on the 4 and 5 subway lines is two blocks from the bridge's eastern landing.
