We had 2 people come...  got a little done.
1.  Discussed what we thought could possibly be meant by a Dyckman
pedestrian mall.  We also thought about the parking on
Dyckman.  Who would drive there to shop?  Probably those at the
meters are the shop owners whose parking is getting subsidized by the
City (i.e., paying cheap meters rather than garaging the car)
2.  Called Denny Farrell back.  He didn't mention the word
pedestrian, just Dyckman Greenway.  Was interested to talk to
me face to face about it this Saturday, but I am occupied so he said his
staffer, Arthur, will call me early next week.  Gives us some time
to discuss greenway alternatives.  The more I think about it, the
more it would be kind of neat to try to replicate something like Boulder
or Denver.  They have almost a little park in the middle of the
street with seating, trees, flowers, sculptures, little playing areas for
the children, etc.  Denver's has 2 lanes of traffic on the outside
for buses (it is their main artery).

Senator Schneiderman's new intern, Martha Demos, came and we had a long
talk about all the issues past and present (streets, noise, garden, parks
and more).  I asked a few questions of the Senator and of DOT and
hoped she could get answers for us (I'm sure I'm not going to remember
all of these and hope Martha does).
For Senator Schneiderman:
Could state funding be available for creating a greenway / mall on
Dyckman?
Can the Senator get a new law passed to give some teeth to the annual
reviews of liquor licenses (i.e. criteria that a store has abused its
liquor license and should therefore lose it).
Can he look into whether the new applications (Papasito and the 2 new
wine bars) will be subject to the new law that was recently passed saying
that no more than 3 of ANY type of liquor/wine license be
denied.
For DOT
What is the status of the feasibility study of the Dyckman greenway that
CB12 asked for many moons ago?
Can we get a copy?
Can we get some speed bumps on west Dyckman to control the drag racers
and motorcycles?
If not, why not?
We should try to meet again... soon
