We spoke last night about direct access from the Greenway bike trail to the GWB paths. One problem is that the bridge is landmarked, so a hairpin-ramp-and-stairs right on the north side of the Manhattan-side anchorage is probably out of the question.

Another problem is that there are houses all along Riverside Drive from north of the bridge to 181st St, so tunneling underneath is probably a no-go.

Looking at the map, I think the only possibility for true Greenway access would be just south of the bridge, crossing the N'bound HHP, Riverside Drive, and three double-lanes of bridge access ramps. Then it could land in the ex-forsythia circle.

An easier way would be to build a much nicer access flyover from Cabrini north of the bridge to the N side path. That combined with improvements to the 181st st entrance to the Greenway would cut off two blocks from the Greenway-GWB trip.

Try the map link; I hope it works.
