Traffic and Transportation meeting is December 1 at 7 pm, CB12 office. General Meeting is December 16, 7 pm at Russ Berrie, with election of officers. Let me know if you need the dates of other meetings. As for the website.... we were informed at the last General Meeting it would be up "very shortly." Apologies to all. Rita L. Brief listings are available on the reverse of monthly calendars handed out at the GM, and an abbreviated agenda is printed in the Manhattan Times - often the EDC's agenda is incomplete and venues under consideration are not publicly listed in advance. I intend to make this a campaign issue; agenda should be available in advance. R Rita L. Not only should agendas be made available through current means (which reach, what, .005% of CB12 residents), but there should be new methods of outreach, particularly for time-sensitive and location-sensitive issues. For example, if there is to be construction or land use zoning change, or anything in a specific locale and there is to be a hearing or meeting on the subject, the area should be blanketed with flyers - in buildings, stores, subways, etc... So many times the burden of communicating to local residents about such things unfairly falls on the same very few individuals. Also, an effort should be made to educate people in the district about what the CB does. If there were a survey of residents, I bet you that 90% have little idea of what the CB does, even in general, and much fewer than that would know how they could get involved.
