Planned Safety Improvements

Through a little bit of research, I have found the following safety improvements that are in some stage of development or implementation. Much of the information is from the city’s GIS map, which can be found here. The layers function on the bottom right has a whole host  of information. If you check the Department of Design and Construction under Capital Project, you will find the projects listed below.

Other Projects

Montefiore Park and Plaza, on Broadway, between 136th & 138th streets, scheduled to be reconstructed. The project is currently in the pre-design phase, with a completion date of 1/15/2017. The preliminary plans call for the expansion of the park into Hamilton Place, creating additional pedestrian space and a plaza.

Most Dangerous Intersections in Harlem/HH

Dear Blog Readers,

Please respond to this thread to help me select our first few locations to table and organize. A great idea for community organizing came via another user. We’ll set up a couple of card tables with info. signs, etc. to get people to sign up, sign our petition. The idea though is to highlight the danger of one particularly dangerous intersection and have a petition proposing safety improvements. Many people will say Yes to the question - Do you think this is a dangerous intersection? Tha begins a conversation. So, the question to y’all is where is an intersection - or multiple ideas - where we could do such an activitiy. We could even attempt to get press for such an action.

Okay I’ll get the list rolling:

125 /Amsterdam.

125/B’way

Convent Ave/135 St. (next to big school, no traffic light.)

Please reply with your ideas
