I would add to the potential allies:

-Transportation Alternatives
-NYC Economic Development Commission
-NYC Travel and Tourism Public Relations Department
-New York State Department of Economic Development (NY State Tourism)
-5 Boro Bicycle Club
-NY Cycle Club
-Times Up
-Marty Markowitz (Brooklyn Borough Presidents Office) *maybe a tough sell
-NY Road Runners

Business Improvement Districts:
-Montague Street BID
-Metrotech BID
-Fulton Mall BID
-Myrtle Ave BID
-Brooklyn Heights Association
-Downtown Alliance

Newspapers & Blogs:
-The Brooklyn Paper
-The Brooklyn Eagle
-Downtown Express
-The Villager
-Curbed
-Brownstoner
-Brooklyn Heights Blog Brooklyn Heights Association

The more allies, the stronger the case for this seemingly obvious solution. We should also start to collect interviews and petition with both cyclists and pedestrians. Maybe we can gather data on the numbers of bikes and pedestrians that use the path.

Thank you all for joining Brooklyn Bridge Cycle Track Advocates!  If you're getting this in your email and realize that you didn't want to get email like this, reply directly to me and I'll help you get off the list.

I think a good way to start this campaign is by identifying people who could be the major players:

- Potential beneficiaries: cyclists who live in Brooklyn and travel to Manhattan or vice versa.  Pedestrians who would like to see cyclists off the bridge, including tourists and Chinatown residents.  Business owners in Brooklyn Heights who could see increased patronage.

- Potential adversaries: motorists who commute over the Bridge, people who hate cyclists.

- Potential allies: the "New" DOT, pro-bike Councilmembers like Yassky and Mendez.

- Potential obstacles: the "Old" DOT, politicians who think everyone who's important drives, fiscal conservatives.

This is just a start, what I can come up with off the top of my head.  I'm sure you all can think of more.  Reactions, suggestions?

Thanks again!

That's a great list, Jacob! Anyone have a particular connection
to any of these potential allies that would help in this campaign?
