The LACBC in conjunction with various partners will be instituting the first ever bicycle count in Los Angeles. This will allow us to know how many people are biking, where they are biking, and as we conduct this bike out over time, we'll see patterns emerge that will tell us what policy is working, and where we need to improve as a city.
How can YOU take part, you ask?
1. Recommend good intersections to do the bike count at.
2. Let us know if there are any local city organizations (NGOs or governmental) that we might want to work with, or who might want to help sponsor the bike count.
3. Volunteer! To conduct a citywide bike count, even at only 10-15 locations in all of LA, we will still need 100s of volunteer hours to make this happen. The support and elbow grease of the community is CRUCIAL to placing this important cycling building block.
Thank you to all taking part, and remember that a central way to forward safe streets for all is to show that we're really out there everyday, living our life cycle.
