I'm a proffesional in the field of architectural visualization. Having worked a lot with architects and real estate developers in my city I've noticed a considerable amount of formalism and lack of reasoning in everything that goes with masterplans, street design, pedestrial facilities and beautification. All this, along with years of bad management and fast motorization turned Yekaterinburg into a disaster - a car-dominated congested city pedestrian and bike unfriendly city with few attractive open public spaces.
Being an architect myself (B.Arch.) I decided to learn how to avoid and overcome those problems in practice. I made several trips to diffirent cities in Europe, including Paris which completely blew my mind. I also searched the Internet for resources on this topic and finally found StreetsBlog which turned out to be very inspiring, showing how communities can work and succeed in rebuilding their streets. - Interests
