About
Mr. Lowenhaupt's career bridged the hands-on and policy realms. As an interactive marketing consultant, he guides firms in the insurance, telecommunications, and banking industries. He developed public information kiosks and published an early online directory of interactive services. A longtime Internet governance participant, he's now an advocate for the .nyc top level domain.<BR> Out of college, he worked as a transportation planner for a regulatory agency. His work with information technology began in the late 1970’s when he assisted firms seeking approval of cable TV systems. Intrigued by the technology, he entered the NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, Interactive Telecommunications Program, where he earned an advanced degree. Earlier, he received a B.A. in government studies from Queens College. He has organized conferences on community empowerment technologies, researched terrestrial and satellite communications; made presentations at industry conferences. He has recruited and supervised the efforts of volunteers and interns. In early 2000's he co-hosted a weekly radio show on community governance. Civic involvement includes president of the Charles Street Association, co-founder of the Friends of the Renaissance School, member of Queens Community Board 3, New Media Advisory Committee of LaGuardia Community College, other board positions. QWIX provided reviews of interactive services while facilitating discussion, user reviews, and chat. 1984-92 Marketing by Diskette Inc. - Designed and developed interactive marketing materials, today easily imagined as website on a disk, for financial, telecommunications industries, creating award winning product for Citicorp. 1985 Reuben H. Donnelley & Sons – Logic structure for online directory. 1984 Sader & Ackerman - Product development and sales for direct marketing firm. 1978-84 Consultant, cable television franchise development, community needs aassessment, presented for regulatory review.
