My primary planning related interest is in establishing motorcycle infrastructure (exclusive motorcycle lanes) in the US. Defined as special lanes for small vehicles such as motorcycles, scooters, bicycles and trishaws, exclusive motorcycle lanes (EMLs) are common in a few cities, primarily in Asia. In these cities, EMLs have proven to dramatically reduce motorcycle/scooter accidents creating better driving environments for all road users.
